Revised Fixtures
Gate have revised fixtures for March to catch up on some of thebacklog caused by the bad weather of the past few weeks with six extra matches scheduled for March. Click Here for details.
Fixture Backlog
Squires Gate have played just one game since mid December and like all clubs in the league face something of a fixture backlog with eight matches to re-arranged. Gate are one of the luckier sides as they have played 23 games whilst Bacup Borough have so far managed only 15 and five other teams only 19. Let's hope that the Spring weather comes early this year!
Brian Addison FA Groundsman of the Year
Our groundsman, Brian Addison, has been awarded "National Groundsman of the Year" for 52 years services by the FA last month. Gate has the perfect playing surface on which to play football, thanks to Brian.
Pictured here with left to right; Tony Hornby, BRIAN ADDISON, Chairman, Stuart Hopwood, and Micky Farrar, as they congratulate the man of the moment, as far as Squires Gate are concerned!
Geoff MacKay Retires
Gate's club secretary Geoff MacKay has decided to finally call it a day as far as football administration is concerned. He had always planned on doing so at 60 but finally made his decision just short of his 64th birthday. He still intends to help out with the ground and will be seen at games. Squires Gate would like to thank Geoff for his efforts at the club and wish him well in his retirement.
Match Reporter Needed
Following Geoff MacKay's decision to retire from football administration the club needs someone to take on the responsibility for writing the match reports. If you fancy yourself as a "footie journo", please contact Stuart Hopwood or the club for more information. Assistant Manager Mark Moretti is currently taking on the job but he is otherwise occupied and there are quite a few distractions when you are sitting on the bench!
Sponsorship
Squires Gate FC is delighted to have benefited from sponsorship from the British Amusement Catering Trade Association. Club Chairman Stuart Hopwood (left) is seen here receiving the cheque from Chris Oldland of BACTA.
Sponsorship is vital to the club and contributions from organisations such as BACTA help keep the club in existence. If you know of any individuals or organisations that would be interested in some form of sponsorship please let the club Chairman know.

New Floodlights
Squires Gate's Vodcat Premier League game against Nelson will see their new floodlights fully operational for the first time. Chairman Stuart Hopwood commented,
"we've been aware for some time that our lights were no longer good enough, and we decided to do something about it. Over the years the lights have gradually reduced in brightness, to the point that we would soon be inviting sanctions by our League."
"With the help of a grant, and donations and loans from members and friends, we've been able to restore the lights to their original levels, and I'm sure spectators will notice a big improvement. We're not a wealthy club, and we've had to do a lot of the ground work ourselves, and we also saved considerable money by keeping the original towers."
" We have an excellent pitch here at Squires Gate, changing rooms which are amongst the best in the League, and a very pleasant, air-conditioned clubhouse. The last two years have seen us achieve our best ever League position, under the guidance of our manager Andy Clarkson, and we feel that players will want to come and play for the Club if we maintain, and hopefully continue, our programme of steady improvement."
Website Re-launched
The Squires Gate FC website has been re-launched thanks in part to the sponsorship offered by Paul Sutton who has kindly paid for the website hosting charges for the next twelve months. It is hoped that the new site will grow over time with new content being added regularly. Please be patient as we develop the new site especially if you encounter errors.
